Elly Yenne

Elly Yenne

Hello everyone! My name is Elly Yenne, and I attended Rose Hill from 2004-2011. Currently, I am in graduate school at the University of Idaho pursuing a master’s degree in music performance. In 2022, I completed my undergraduate degree in music education and international studies, also from the University of Idaho.

In my master’s program, I have the pleasure of being a teaching assistant which allows me to help teach classes such as music theory, brass pedagogy, tuba ensemble, and even give private lessons. On the side, I have started a small private studio where I teach tuba, euphonium, and trombone lessons to middle school and high school aged students at all ability levels.

Once I complete my degree in the spring of 2025 (fingers crossed), I plan on becoming a full-time music educator in Idaho. It would be the ultimate fulfillment if I became even half of what the amazing teachers that I had at Rose Hill were.

Right now, I’m living in Seattle working at Seattle City Light, the municipal electricity utility, as a Budget Analyst. Before that, I went to the University of Rochester to study Data Science and worked as a Data Scientist in various roles before.

I couldn't have done it without Rose Hill!

After high school, I attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana where I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and developed a passion for rugby and fly fishing. Soon after graduating, I began medical school at the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School in Brisbane, Australia and continued playing rugby for the University of Queensland. At this time, I plan to graduate in 2025.

Rose Hill Montessori School provided me with a nurturing environment, supportive staff, and a strong sense of community.

Looking back, I appreciated the hands-on activities that established my foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

After graduating from CU Boulder in 2021, I moved down to Durango, CO to work as an environmental engineer at a consulting firm that provides services to municipalities on the Western Slope of Colorado. The desert southwest is an outdoor enthusiasts playground. I spend my lunch breaks and evenings mountain biking, running, skiing, rafting, and exploring the trails and mountains that are out my backdoor with my friends and my dog, Otter.

I have so much love and appreciation for the Rose Hill Montessori community.

I attended Rose Hill from 2005 to 2012 and went to Fairmont Junior High School and Capital High School before graduating in 2018. I started my environmental career while I was still in high school by volunteering at the Boise WaterShed teaching the community about various environmental topics.

After high school, I briefly worked at Rose Hill as an elementary summer school assistant before pursuing my Environmental Science and Management degree and minors in Geospatial Analysis and Watershed Management at Cal Poly Humboldt in the coastal redwoods of Northern California. During college, I held a variety of jobs including camp counselor, salmon hatchery aide, oyster nursery intern, and college peer mentor.

In 2022, I started my first service term with the California Conservation Corps/Americorps Watershed Stewards Program (WSP) at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) in Fortuna, California. I spent 11 months hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking tributaries of the South Fork Eel River to observe wild salmon populations. I am currently in my second WSP term at CDFW Arcata, spending most of my time with salmon at a life cycle monitoring station in Humboldt Bay. Additionally, I am doing fieldwork in Redwood National Park and snorkeling the pristine Smith River.

Over the last two years, I’ve been thinking about fish 24/7…but I have also been teaching elementary students about watershed science and have organized and led restoration volunteer events. After my second WSP term is over, I hope to pursue a masters degree in fisheries or environmental restoration and work with a tribal or federal fisheries department in the long run.

My environmental career has been partially influenced by my time at Rose Hill doing all the great environmental field trips (M.O.S.S. Camp, Snow School, 6th grade backpacking, etc.). I also had the unique experience of working at Rose Hill after graduating and the teachers there taught me skills that have helped me conquer various environmental education jobs. Thank you Rose Hill for all the hands-on opportunities and guidance over the years.

I’m Karma Prajzler (previously Karma French). I attended Rose Hill from 1st through 6th grade from 2000 through 2006 and went on to attend North Junior High and Boise High School. Rose Hill provided me with a foundation that continued to impact my life well past 6th grade graduation.

After high school, I attended the University of Idaho and graduated early in 2014 with a degree in Spanish. After this, I attended law school at the University of Utah SJ Quinney College of law in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I graduated with my JD in 2017.

I’ve been a practicing attorney since 2017, first in SLC but then in Portland, Oregon, where I now live with my husband and adorable dog. You could say that my choice in career was heavily influenced by grammar boxes, but also all the opportunities to write poetry. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but Rose Hill fostered my love of writing, and this is something I wanted to carry into my career.

While I enjoy my career, I’ve always been a more relationally focused human and the aspects outside of my career that are rooted in the foundation Rose Hill provided are what I value most. My love of different languages and cultures has carried me to some beautiful places and people.

So much joy in my life is built upon the foundation of those early years and I don’t think I would be the person I am today without my experiences at Rose Hill. I’m very fond of my memories there and even more fond of the life I’ve built, in part, because of Rose Hill.
